Oooh garlic! I planted a bunch of garlic at the end of October. You can check out my post about it here. On July 11 I harvested it all.
I gently nudged each bulb out of the dirt with a little shovel so as not to break off the stalk.
Oh what a beautiful head of garlic!
Once they were all out of the ground, I brush off as much dirt as I could and then spread them out on a pallet in a location out of the weather but with plenty of air circulation.
They stay in that location for a couple of weeks until the dirt and the outer skins of the garlic head are dry.
Once dry, I sometimes will braid them up and hang them to finish curing. This time I just cut off the stalks and put them in a cool place in a basket for use.
Any bulbs that were tiny or nicked so as to not store well, I put those in a separate bowl to use first.
I love homegrown garlic. So easy. So delicious. So prolific.
Have you tried growing garlic? How did it go?
