Daughters are a funny breed aren’t they. I remember my relationship with my mother as being a bit up and down, depending on my age.
It was good the early years, a little bit of turmoil in the late teen years, and now it’s awesome. If we lived closer, I am sure we would spend quite a bit of time together.
My relationship with my daughter is a bit unique. I didn’t get the opportunity to spend the early years with her. She is not my biological daughter and I didn’t get her until she was 17. There were minor incidents that last year before she turned 18 and graduated from high school, but the following ten years were quite rocky as she tried to sort her life out and find herself.
During that time she became the mother of two beautiful children and is doing a great job with them. While being a single parent of those two beauties, she put herself through college. She has accomplished some miraculous things and learned a few of life’s tough lessons along the way.
The past couple of years she has been doing great. She is finally following a path that clicks with her and her children and they live a wonderful life.
Today is her 32nd birthday. It is hard to believe she has been in my life for almost 15 years. Happy Birthday sweet Amber. I love you and I am so proud of you and what you have created for yourself. I look forward to what the future has in store for you.
